ACCURATE VOICE RECOGNITION - THE TIME IS HERE! The main advantages of using the new Philips "SpeechMagic" - voice recognition system are as follows: 1) We can train the server to fee earners voices - saving time and frustration for the solicitor! Initially send us your digital dictation files for us to recognise, correct and as a result adapt the server to their voice and patterns of language. After 200 hours of this (charged at 0.7p per word) we can expect to achieve at least 98% accuracy consistently. After this, the system is good enough to be handed over to an administrator/secretary who can check the work - which is quicker and cheaper than transcription! 2) You don't have to train each word - and the software can now put words in context The system already has a database of 30,000 words for the legal context. From this and the training above, it can work out the probability of one word occurring after another, meaning if a word is not recognised as well it can use this to work out what the word could be from it's phonetic database, giving more accurate and sensible results - this is a fundamental change from previous systems which used word by word separate recognition (bit by bit recogntion), giving poor and often nonsensical results and a very slow learning curve. 3) We can teach the system how you use words in your work context We can speed up the above process by scanning in past documents of the fee earners work which is far quicker and means that you don't have to train the system to every word as in the past. 4) Better sound recording and no need for PC to "hear" every word The system uses "phonemes" i.e. how I or you pronounce the building blocks of words such as "a" or "ch", from this model of how a person pronounces words, this can be combined with the context and database of words to more accurately interpret and recognise the new dictation. 5) Computers can work for you 24 hours a day 7 days a week! The software itself uses SQL server which therefore gives quick processing. The processing is both reliable and can support very large numbers of users.
